Last I checked The UAE are our allies and deserving of all the respect and consideration due an ally. To deny them this business deal because of the A in UAE would seem un-American and knee jerk. There may be dozens of reasons why this is a bad idea but we should all wait until the facts are in. Just because Jimmy Carter is for it doesn't always mean it's wrong, even a broken clock is right twice a day and Jimmy is long past due to be right on something.
The major issue here seems to be safety. The theory that some cabal of Arab conspiracists have a plan to buy ports to smuggle in WMDs into our country through them seems kind of far fetched. Why go through all that trouble when millions of pounds of drugs are smuggled into our country each year through every other means?

Deep pocket UAE owners might actually increase port security. But it's an election year so this will be flogged until Nov.
