Keep A Stiff Upper Lip Rush

I am not a huge fan of a Rush Limbaugh. I think he's more of an entertainer than a serious conservative pundit and somewhat of a blowhard. Today he was busted at Palm Beach International Airport for having a bottle of Viagra without his name on it. As you may remember Rush has a problem with abusing prescription pain medicine, as a part of his plea bargain for shopping for prescription pain medicine, he was supposed to keep out of trouble for 18 months. This peccadillo may put the kibosh on that deal.
Far be it from me to defend the affluent and powerful, but please. Rush had boner pills prescribed to him by his doctor, but in his doctor's name for privacy sake. If this is a not an ideological prosecution, I don't know what is. Who is hurt by this? Other than the whole world imagining the Rush Man doing the wild thing, or in his case just "the thing".

I wonder what you would say if a Kennedy had some prescription pills in his doctor's name. Rush made his bed.

It depends on which Kennedy, if it were Patrick involved in some sort of D.U.I. thing I would say something like:

I would be easy to crack wise about this story, but oddly enough I feel bad for the man. If anyone had the addiction deck stacked against him, it would be the son of Joan and Teddy Kennedy.

If it were Teddy I would just say eeeew.
Dexter your liberal hypocrisy is showing. If this were a Kennedy caught with penis pills under similar circumstances, you would be the first to call bullshit on this invasion of privacy, and rightfully so. The fact that it’s Rush Limbaugh should have nothing to do with how this man is treated by the law one way or the other – you know that whole equal protection thing we Americans are so fond of.

I have nothing to say, except that it seems that Rush, like the Kennedy's (or R.C. priests, for that matter), is exposed to public scrutiny more than others because folks believe they can make a buck off of them, somewhat easily -- reminds me of many parallel themes, but I will not mention these as it requires an ability to think both analogically & anagogically.... at the same time.

PS I love your writing ability, "stiff upper lip" -- ha, ha. I am jealous, as always, 'cause I wouldn't last a minute writing a weekly column for a newspaper or journal, but you could do it....truly. Why start up a mortgage business?

I think the time of Rush being relevant or newsworthy has long since passed. The first I heard about it was on your blog.

Let's see...

Kennedy: problems with alcohol... once accidentally killed a girl.

Rush: problems with pain medication... got caught with "illicit" boner pills.

Yep, same thing. ::rolleyes::

What about the 'doctor shopping' for pain pills?

What ABOUT it? I mentioned his problems with pain medication. (Okay, I didn't go into specifics but that's not the point.)

Dexter, I expect you to not like Rush. It's perfectly understandable. But you're throwing him under the bus because of his personal failings. And that's okay too I guess. But if Rush gets thrown under the bus, you need to at LEAST do the same to Kennedy. So far that hasn't happened. Just the opposite, in fact.
