Jeter On A-Rod

Don't get me wrong, I still hate the Yankees but I think it's funny when people try to get Derek Jeter to say something crappy about a team mate. He's far too classy a guy for that nonsense.
Jeter said. "If I would ever have any conversations with anyone, I'd keep it between me and who I'm speaking with."

Ya think Jeter is classy? Not a comment from any ol' Bosox fan, just a comment from someone who's been watching Jeter for years from Toronto... not a classy guy....

It's good that Jeter keeps his conversations with A-Rod private but isn't that the LEAST he could do? When Yankee fans were looking to run A-Rod out of NYC last summer, did Jeter EVER saying anything on A-Rod's behalf? Contrast that with Boston. How many times has Ortiz stuck up for Manny no matter what? Maybe Papi is loyal to a fault but still...

One of Jeter's nicknames is "Captain Intangibles". Seems to me if Jeter was more of a leader, he would have taken some of the pressure off A-Rod. All he would have had to do was say something like this, "Listen guys, all season long everybody said that A-Rod was having a lousy year. You know what? You're right. He only hit .290 with 35 homers and 121 RBIs. By A-Rod's standards those ARE lousy numbers. My BEST year I didn't even hit 30 homers. I think we all need to take a deep breath, get a little perspective and cut our thirdbaseman a little slack."
